20th Annual Arts and Crafts Festival in Pines Is Still Seeking Artists and Vendors

It is not too late for artists and vendors to participate in the 20th Annual City of Pembroke Pines Arts Fest in the Pines, on March 10 and 11. More than 5,000 people are expected to attend the free two-day festival, which will be held at the new Charles F. Dodge City Center, located at 601 City Center Way. It will include talented artists, fun-filled entertainment, food trucks, live hands-on art demonstrations, cooking demonstration by Whole Foods Market, student art competition, farmers market, kids art and game zone, children and adult workshops at The Frank Art Gallery, and so much more! The deadline for artists to submit an application is March 2 at 5pm.

“The 20th Annual Artfest in the Pines is a celebration of our 20-year commitment to the community and local artists to bring community engaging and cultural experiences and events to The City of Pembroke Pines,” said Holly Bonkowski, Division Director of Cultural Arts for the City of Pembroke Pines.

Over 75 artists from around the state are expected to participate in the festival, which is presented by the City of Pembroke Pines Recreation & Cultural Arts Department and Artserve. A total of $4,500 in cash prizes will be awarded to winning artists, including $1,000 for Best in Show winner, as well as $350 for Best in seven categories, including: Drawing, Jewelry, Mixed Media, Digital Art, Painting, Fine Handcrafts, Photography, Wood, Glass and 3-Dimensional Sculpture. The cost is $175 for a 10’ x 10’ space and $325 for a 10’ x 20’ space. Ribbons will also be awarded for plants, jewelry and fine handcrafts.

Carl Erving’s “Serenity” was named this year’s Festival Poster Winner at the 13th Annual Arts Competition. His work will be on display at the Festival and posters will be available for purchase at the Festival. Proceeds will benefit art and culture in Pembroke Pines.

Students attending school in Pembroke Pines, grades K thru 12, are eligible to enter the Student Art Competition. Students will be judged by their artistic expression and creativity by grade level. Collages, Drawings, Paintings, Photography and Sculptures or a combination of mediums and materials are accepted. Winners will be announced on Saturday, March 10 at 1 p.m. A student in each grade level will be awarded with a ribbon and a gift card to the Shops at Pembroke Gardens as follows: 1st place receives $100, 2nd place receives $50, 3rd Place receives $25. An ice cream celebration to follow. The deadline to apply is March 3, at 5pm.
